        Well at a basic level I'd say that it is someone who has interest in anthropomorphic animals (as is the most common deffinition) beyond that I find it hard to define the fandom as it is unified in only this interest and not the reason for this interest (be it aesthetics, a form of spirituallity or sexual interest) or the way the interest is expressed (such as art, litterature, fursuiting etc.). Ultimately the fandom itself almost seems like a generalisation that becomes a comunity through a shared sense of belonging.
